Graphic Designer – Print, Video, Web


Summary

Provides creative concepts and design for print and promotional advertisements, as well as design support to Technology Services and Production Services teams. A Graphic Designer’s primary duty will be to create or modify images for use in business collateral, advertising, and other communications media. This may include, but not be limited to: artwork and layout for logos, business cards, brochures, annual reports, newsletters, posters, forms, signs, magazines and other publications, and media (television, web, interactive, etc.). Primary Duties

The role involves managing more than one design project at one time, allocating the relevant amount of time according to the value of the job. Typical work activities include:
  • Meeting clients, creative director or account managers to discuss the needs, objectives and requirements of projects
  • Interpreting the client's business needs and developing a concept to suit their purpose
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts
  • Using innovation to work within the constraints of cost and time
  • Creating high-quality, creative, suitable design artwork for client projects
  • Accurately estimating of time taken to complete work and meeting deadlines derived from estimations
  • Making creative judgments and decisions based on client direction, supervisor direction or creative briefs
  • Helping to develop creative briefs by gathering information and data through research
  • Presenting finalized ideas and concepts to clients or account managers
  • Working with a wide range of media, including photography and design software
  • Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work
  • Creating and revising internal marketing materials, forms, etc.
  • Keeping knowledgeable of new innovations, technologies, and trends in the graphic design world
  • Working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers, account executives, web developers and marketing specialists
  • Working with Technology Services and Production Services to provide graphics for web and video as needed
  • Other duties as required

Other Duties

Other functions may include, but are not limited to:
  • Participation in periodic production meetings with collaborative team
  • Video production support staffing
  • Assistance in the loading and unloading of delivery and production vehicles
  • Light cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, taking out trash and general errands
  • Greeting customers at the door
  • Answering phones in a professional manner

Work Environment

Normal office environment. Limited travel to client locations and production shoots required. Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor of Art in Graphic Design, Illustration or related field required
  • Three to five years of related work experience with one year of experience with web and video graphics. Agency experience preferred.

Must have an eye for details. Should be well-read, open to new ideas and influences, and quick to react to changing trends. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Self-discipline to start projects independently, to budget time, and to meet deadlines and production schedules. Must be able to follow creative direction and produce work that fits within a defined style or purpose. Must be versatile and have the ability to generate a variety of different styles of work. Must have a strong sense of order and organization and be able to produce clear and well-presented documents (forms, charts, text layout, etc.) in addition to creative design. Able to create graphics according to verbal direction or through reference to project notes. Understands requirements for project and takes into account for each job. Can work unsupervised.

Must be creative and able to communicate ideas visually, verbally, and in writing. Ability to read and interpret instructions, creative briefs, correspondence, supervisory notes or revisions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization. Ability to effectively work as a team member and employ self-discipline when working alone or as part of a group.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in various forms and deal with several abstract/concrete variables. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted. Due to some driving being required during the normal course of business, the prospective employee must have a clean driving record. In addition, some contracts Agama Advertising maintains may require drug testing and background checks.

Computer Skills

Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat, email and Internet experience. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, word processing, spreadsheets. Thorough knowledge of BorisRED or AfterEffects, DVD StudioPro, Flash and/or HTML programming preferred.

Pay Range

$24,000 to $30,000 based on experience and ability.

Hours and Benefits

The position is benefits eligible with health insurance, vacation and five paid holidays per year. Most work will be during normal business hours (9 to 6), although some jobs will require work time in the evenings and on weekends. Typical work week is fifty (50) hours.
